Amanda – still under her birthname/deadname - is struggling with bullying at her school and with her own feelings. After Amanda’s parents divorced, a suicide attempt, support in a peer support group and her transition, Amanda is moving from her mom’s place to her dad’s in a city in the south of the US, where she knows no one. She gains some friends and falls in love with Grant, who is a Star Wars fan just like her. She is happy. But there are also doubts gnawing at her. Grant seems to be keeping something from her. And what happens if her friends and boyfriend find out about her being trans?

Despite some traditional stereotypes (Amanda, who was assigned male at birth, doesn’t like playing Baseball, which is supposed to undermine her female identity) it is still a beautiful story. (translated by Jamie)

Nach der Trennung der Eltern, einem versuchten Selbstmord, Unterstützung in einer Selbsthilfegruppe und der Transition zu Amanda, zieht sie von ihrer Mutter zu ihrem Vater in eine Stadt im Süden der USA, wo niemand sie kennt. Sie gewinnt Freundinnen und verliebt sich in Grant, der wie sie ein Star Wars Fan ist. Sie ist glücklich. Doch es nagen auch Zweifel an ihr. Grant scheint etwas vor ihr zu verheimlichen. Und was wenn ihr Freund und ihre Freundinnen herausfinden, dass sie trans ist?

Trotz einiger klassischer Stereotype (so spielt die Hauptperson, der bei Geburt das Geschlecht männlich zugeordnet wurde, von klein auf nicht gern Baseball, was vermutlich ihre weibliche Identität herausstreichen soll), dennoch eine schöne Geschichte. (Rezi von Anton)
