Jam (Pronomen sie) wächst in einer nachrevolutionären Welt auf, in der auch trans* Kinder wie Jam geschlechtsangleichende OPs erhalten können. Pets bester Freund Redemption hat drei Elternteile (und eins davon mit Pronomen they). Doch Trans* und Familienvielfalt sind nicht die Hauptthemen in diesem Buch, was schön ist, da dies eine Normalität signalisiert.

Handlung: Vor Jams Augen kommt ein Gemälde ihrer Mutter zu Leben und nennt sich Pet. Pet ist gekommen, um ein Monster im Haus von Redemption zu jagen. Pet und Jam begeben sich gemeinsam mit Redemption auf die Suche. Es stellt sich heraus, dass jemand aus der Familie Redemptions Bruder Moss Gewalt angetan hat und die Erwachsenen wegsehen. Eine ungewöhnliche Art und Weise Missbrauch zu thematisieren, spannend verpackt.
