Cattywampus ist eine schöne Geschichte über 2 Jugendliche rivalisierender Hexenfamilien, in denen die Fähigkeit zu zaubern den Frauen vorbehalten ist. Da die Gesellschaft Hexerei nicht schätzt, bekommen die beiden diese Kunst jedoch von Ihren Müttern nicht beibebracht. Während Delpha es alleine versucht - und dadurch einiges Chaos verursacht -, hat Katybird ungewollte und unkontrollierte magische Momente und sie und ihre Familie sind unsicher, ob und wie gut sie Magie ausüben kann, da sie intergeschlechtlich ist. Die Darstellung des inter Charakters ist gut gelungen. Der dritte Hauptcharakter hat zwei Mütter. Das Buch ist für ca. 8-12-Jährige oder etwas Ältere, die sich im Englischen üben wollen.
