Als they sich seinen Eltern gegenüber outet, wird they rausgeschmissen und nimmt Kontakt mit their Schwester auf, die das Elternhaus schon vor Längerem verlassen hat. Zunächst ungeoutet schließt Ben an einer neuen Schule Freund*innenschaften und trifft Nathan. Zwischen den beiden entwickelt sich eine unterstützende und liebevolle Beziehung, die Ben auch darin stärkt, sich gegenüber den nichtbinär-feindlichen Eltern zu behaupten.
