Anjums Lebensweg kreuzt sich mit vielen Personen, über deren Lebensgeschichten Roy einen Einblick in das große Land Indien sowie den Kaschmir-Konflikt vermittelt. Dabei geht es um Widerstand, Liebe, eine alternative Familie und Gemeinschaft.
